On the Catwalk” a fashion show in aide of Home Base Youth Drop-in struts its way to success….
Congratulations are in order for all of the Middle and Senior School students who were involved in the fourth annual Country Day School (CDS) charity fashion show “On the Catwalk.” The event was organized almost exclusively by students who arranged for clothing donations from stores like Grafic, Injoy and Lemonberry and then coordinated, choreographed and produced the show, which involved 120 student models and an additional 12 students who worked as backstage crew. All of the students involved deserve a big thank you for making the show work, especially since they did it all on top of their other academic and extracurricular responsibilities, rehearsing at lunch or on free mornings and then attending fittings and dress rehearsals on nights and weekends.
The show’s coordinators were Montana Mortimer, Alannah Lisso and Nicole Calvert who oversaw the entire project.
The show was a high energy, sold out affair that had the audience clapping and dancing to the music and displayed the creative and musical talents of the students. “On the Catwalk” also raised over $9 000 for Pathways Home Base. Theron Cumberbatch, Program Director of Home Base was on hand at the event to speak to the audience about the charity, and several young men who have received support from Pathways over the years were also able to attend the show.
Nutritional Workshop
The Junior League of Toronto hosts a nutritional workshop at our Home Base Drop in Centre. Volunteers offered healthy eating tips, nutritional energy shakes, healthy chicken wraps, salads, pasta and information on creating a balanced and healthy lifestyle to over 15 of our youth on Friday June 29. Youth were overwhelmed at the generosity and commitment of the volunteers on hand. Youth had a great time working with the Junior League volunteers to prepare their dinnertime meals.
